Marcus Phua, PhD
Dr Marcus’s classroom style revolves around making difficult topics easy for his students to understand. He breaks down concepts and draws parallel to application of the main points so that his students may find it easier to comprehend and digest. Dr Marcus also believes in constantly checking in on his students’ grasp of content by constantly engaging them with questions while gradually building their level of proficiency in the subject.
Dr Marcus specialises in A Levels H2 and H3 Chemistry, and has over a decade of experience teaching in NUS and at various tuition centres. His students have seen a jump in their grades after taking on his lessons, of which some scored A at A levels after failing in prelims and the other topping his H3 Chemistry cohort for MYE and prelims. Dr Marcus focuses on distiling the key concepts that are important for effective understanding but also makes learning Chemistry enjoyable thorugh his personable and engaging teaching style. He obtained his BSc(Hons) in Chemistry and PhD from the National University of Singapore, and has carried out research in A*STAR, NUS Department of Pharmacy and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
